Open data for estimating plant-level steel production costs

The Global Steel Cost Tracker (GSCT) is an open data product that estimates plant-level production costs for the blast furnace-blast oxygen furnace (BF-BOF) and electric arc furnace (EAF) steel production routes based on Global Energy Monitor's Global Steel Plant Tracker. The cost estimates are broken down by raw materials, energy, labour, and overheads. Analysts can use GSCT to support modelling of steel sector decarbonisation and to assess the production costs of steel by particular routes across different regions.
