New York Times visualises incredible pace of solar power growth with TransitionZero’s Solar Asset Mapper
TZ-SAM is an open-access, asset-level global dataset of commercial- and utility-scale solar facilities utilising satellite imagery and machine learning
London, UK, 17 September, 2024: On 16th September, 2024, the New York Times featured a visual representation of data from TransitionZero’s Solar Asset Mapper (TZ-SAM) to highlight the immense investment China has made in solar power versus the USA (and the rest of the world) in an opinion column by David Wallace-Wells, an in-demand author and commentator on the climate crisis.
Updated quarterly, TZ-SAM is an open-access, asset-level global dataset of commercial- and utility-scale solar facilities utilising satellite imagery and machine learning. Government departments, renewable developers, asset managers, energy consultancies and media companies are examples of the kind of 500 organisations already using TZ-SAM to keep track of the rapid growth in solar power.

The TZ-SAM Q3 dataset is set to go-live in October 2024. Sign up here to receive updates.
